- Reimbursement
Structure: Out-of-network emergency
providers may bill the insurer directly. Insurers must reimburse them
based on one of the highest rates among:<ul type=”circle”>
- The
in-network rate for similar services,- The
usual and customary rate,- The
Medicare reimbursement rate.- Reporting
Requirement: The Department of Insurance
must evaluate the effectiveness of dispute resolution practices in
surprise billing cases and report to the Governor and General Assembly
