Measures For Consideration
Rachel from Hart Health flagged the two announcements below for potential QCDC consideration.
Please review and let us know if you think we should proceed with a comment letter?
1) The first is an announcement that CMS has released its annual Measures Under Consideration (MUC) list for public comment. As a reminder, the MUC list includes measures that CMS is considering to propose for adoption (across its various quality programs) in its next round of rulemaking. Comments are submitted through the PQM (which took over the NQF) and are due Dec. 22. The PQM will then consider public comments and make formal recommendations to CMS about these measures.
There really aren’t any measures under consideration this year that are directly relevant to emergency care, but I did want to flag the following in case it is of interest to EDPMA:
- Age-Friendly Hospital
Measure:
This structural measure, developed by the American College of Surgeons and
under consideration for the Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) program,
assesses hospital commitment to improving care for patients ≥
65 years of age receiving services in the hospital, operating room,
or emergency department. It consists of 5 domains that each
address an essential aspect of clinical care for the older patient. A
verifiable attestation is met when all domain components are met for the
majority of patients ≥ 65.
2) The second announcement is in regard to the PQM’s consideration of Fall 2023 cycle measures. These are existing measures that were previously NQF-endorsed and are now up for re-endorsement or new measures up for initial endorsement. Comments on these measures are due Jan. 2.
There are two measures that might be of interest to EDPMA under the “Initial Recognition and Management” project:
·
